What Need Pay Attention to When Installing Industrial Chiller

2024-01-15

What do you need to pay attention to when installing industrial chiller? Improper installation can cause premature failure, wasted energy, and safety hazards. The following Tongwei shows you the installation of chiller. The installation of the chiller is very simple, but you also pay attention to some details, not only to connect the water and electricity, but also to pay attention to long-term maintenance and use. Here are the precautions you need to know before proceeding:

1. Select the installation location

One of the most important factors to consider when installing an industrial chiller is its location. For an air-cooled chiller, which need a well-ventilated open space. Ensure that there are no obstructions or walls within 1 meter of the surrounding area, otherwise it will cause difficulties in air circulation and heat dissipation. The key is to ensure that the heat discharged by the chiller can move outside, rather than circulating in a small space. The distance between the blocks also ensures the maintenance space. When installing an air-cooled chiller in a poorly ventilated space, it is necessary to install an air pipe near the top of the chiller near the condenser fan to ensure heat dissipation.

For water cooled chillers, which only need to reserve enough maintenance space, because the heat from the cooler is transferred through the water to the cooling tower.

2.Ground treatment for placing chillers

Industrial chillers must be placed on a solid, flat concrete floor to support the weight of the chiller. The level of the floor should be less than 6 mm. Chillers will vibrate during operation. The chiller unit is easy to move, especially portable chillers with casters. The vibration of the chiller will be amplified for a long time, and running the chiller for a long time will cause serious failure.

For large chillers, we need to build concrete foundations for them. A 50-100 mm absorption gap needs to be filled with sand or asphalt around the foundation. There should be bolt holes in the foundation to fasten the chiller base to the concrete foundation.

After completing the above preparations, we can place the chiller on the foundation. Then we need a level to check if it is level and not tilted. If so, adjust by placing a parallel line between the chiller base and the concrete foundation.

3.Electrical Requirements

Industrial chillers require a substantial amount of electricity to operate. Before installation, we must ensure that the electrical system is adequate to handle the chiller's power requirements. It is vital to install the chiller with an acceptable voltage and to provide a backup power supply to ensure that it continues running during power outages.

4.Water Supply

Water-cooled chillers require a source of water, such as a cooling tower or a nearby pool of water. It is essential to consider the water supply when installing a water-cooled chiller. A dedicated water circuit with appropriate pumps and filters is necessary to maintain adequate water flow and quality.

5.Water Piping

The piping that delivers the chilled water to the process/equipment and the return piping that carries the warmer water back to the chiller must be properly designed and tested. The piping should be sized appropriately based on the flow rate and water pressure requirements of the process. Care should be taken to avoid air pockets in the piping that can negatively affect chiller performance.
